The emir of Katibat El Ansar surrendered
The emir of katibat El Ansar, Ali Ben Touati, alias Abou Tamim Amine, a member of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat GSPC, surrendered on January 28 to the security services in Azazga. According to primary statements by Ben Touati, he would have decided to stop activating after the call made by the former emir of the GSPC Hassa Hattab.

Abou Tamim said that on 28 January 2009 he had joined « Saryate Echaara » which activated under Katibat El Ansar in the region of Yakouren in Tizi Ouzou. According to the first statements of Ben Touati to security services, a large number of terrorist elements activating within El Qaida organisation are convinced of the need to lay down their weapons and return to society, after he recent call made by Hassan Hattab to terrorist groups in which he asked them to stop their terrorist activities.
Abou Tamim is considered one of the closest to the national emir of what is called « El Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb », Hassan Hattab and has a great influence within the elements of its katibat.
Abou Tamim is known to be a leader and also an activist in terrorist groups. He devoted respect and trust within « Katibat El Ansar » which took the lead by removing « Katibat Ennour » which was considered the most powerful, after its leader is eliminated by the security services a year ago. The security services have eliminate not less than 12 leaders in a successful operation in the region of Tizi Ouzou. Abou Tamim was then able to prevail and win the confidence of Droudkal.
According to security experts in the field, Abou Amine was forced to carry out suicide operations, although he believes these acts illegal being a Salafist. His Katibat had conducted two suicide operations executed by Mouhoune Kamel, known as Abdallah Chabani against the headquarters of security services in Naciria on 2 January 2008 where 4 members of the police killed, and thee operation led against the bus transporting foreign workers of the Company « Razal ». The second operation was executed by Kamel Merouche alias Abou Othmane Djafar causing no casualties.
Katibat El Ansar counts about 70 terrorists, the majority of whom are from the regions of Bordj Ménaïl, Dellès, Cap Djinet, Ein El Hamra, Naciria and Isser.
