And the winner is...
The International Jury of the ENERGY GLOBE AWARD 2007 has judged the "Destinations" project as the national winner for Algeria. The project was chosen among a total of 853 projects from 109 nations.
The ceremonious presentation of winner’s certificates is planned prior to the international television gala for the ENERGY GLOBE World Awards, on 26 May 2008 at the European Parliament in Brussels. The national Awards will be presented by high-ranking representatives of the European Parliament.
" The International Energy Globe Awards (the World Awards for Sustainability) have been awarded annually since 1999 to recognise projects that make careful and economical use of resources and employ alternative energy sources. The winners, in the categories of Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Youth, are selected by a panel including members from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, World Bank and the European Renewable Energy Council. The awards were an initiative by Austrian engineer and environmentalist Wolfgang Neumann"

Suject: A Rural Pilot House with Energy Efficiency for Algeria
The main purpose of this pilot project is to build a rural house with 3 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and lavatories. All rooms are located on the ground level. It has a good energy efficiency, which is based on an optimal insulation of the building envelope, the use of solar energy and the use of local building materials. The pilot type is a residential one-familiy house with an area of 80m².
