Last night, coming back from the warm hamam,
I passed by the garden of the old imam.
And there in the garden, in the shade of a jasmine plant,
Emina stood with an ibrik in her hand.
How beautiful she is! By my faith,
She wouldn't be out of place in the sultan's place!
And when she walks, and her bosom heaves –
No holy talisman will help me now !
I called out a Salam to her, but by my faith,
She would not hear of it, the beautiful Emina ,
instead , she filled her ewer with water ,
And went around the roses in her garden.
From the branches she wind swept down
Spilling her locks across her bosom,
A scent from her hair like blue hyacinths
Sent my head spinning !
By my faith, I almost stumbled,
But the beautiful Emina didn't come to my aid.
She just gave me a sideways glance,
Not caring that I'm so crazy for her!
