- BERNAMA

NGOs To Rally In Paris Against Repression In Sahrawi Occupied Territories
PARIS, March 27 (Bernama) -- A dozen French non-government organisations (NGOs) have launched a call for holding a rally near the French National Assembly on next April 14, to protest against human rights violations and demanding an end to repression by Morocco in the Saharawi occupied territories.
The first signatories of the appeal begin by recalling that "the Morocco benefits from the inertia of the international community and accomplice indifference of some governments to intensify its policy of repression against the Saharawi population in the occupied territories, which manifests peacefully," Algerian Press Service (APS) reported.
"Arrests, kidnappings, torture, disappearances, homes devastated are the daily lot of the Sahrawis. Their associations are prohibited. Even, the Saharawi students in Moroccan universities suffer repression," they said.
Periodically, the trial condemned heavily Sahrawis who dare to defend publicly their right to self-determination," continuing the appeal.
The same NGOs also noted that it is the Sahrawi activists of human rights that are particularly targeted by the crackdown, citing the case of "continued detention without trial for 6 human rights activists arrested October 8, 2009 upon return from a visit to the refugee camps.
They are prosecuted before a military court for 'National security violation'."
