Le deuxième réseau de téléphonie fixe voit le jour au maroc,et c'est une véritable révolution technique et commerciale,avec "seulement" 153 millions euros,et avec un combinaison des technologies Wimax et fibres optiques,un réseau complet a été installe,pour le transfert de la voix et des données,certainement une bonne nouvelle pour le maroc qui veut se positionner sur le secteur de l'offshoring.

Telefonica Moviles and Portugal Telecom's Moroccan subsidiary Medi Telecom (Meditel) has launched its first fixed-line packages. The company had over 4 million mobile customers at the end of 2005, making a EUR 153 million operating profit before write-downs. Meditel won Morocco's second fixed-line licence in July 2005, allowing it to provide local, long-distance and international phone services. It is using a hybrid WiMAX, fixed-wireless and fibre network. The services are aimed at businesses, government clients and consumers. Enterprise packages include NeOfix, said to offer the market's lowest call rates to business numbers, national mobile phones and international numbers. NeOnet offers unlimited broadband access over Meditel's own network, along with a full range of value-added services. NeOdata is a national and international data transmission service. Residential users are offered the Tilifoun Dialdar prepaid fixed-line service, which has no start-up fees or complicated tariffs. The services will be brought to the public by a carefully selected team of sales representatives. Meditel is using a single prefix 012 for all fixed-line customers, irrespective of where they live in Morocco.
