Morocco affirms co-operation with Algeria
RABAT, July 06 -- King Mohammed VI of Morocco has affirmed his determination to strengthen co-operation with Algeria in the interests of the two countries and the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA).
UMA, a sub-regional organisation, set up in Marrakech, Morocco in February 1989, groups Libya, Tunisia, Mauritania, Morocco and Algeria.
In a congratulatory message to the Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on his country`s independence anniversary King Mohammed hailed the achievements of the Algerian people in pursuit of progress and sustainable development.
Rabat and Algiers are in dispute over Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony controlled by Morocco since 1975.
