Condoléances pour l'Anniversaire du Martyre de l'Émir des Croyants L’Imam ALI (Alayhi salam)

"Il est parmi les Croyants des hommes qui ont tenu loyalement leur engagement vis-à-vis d’Allah. Certains d’entre eux ont déjà accompli leur destin ; d’autres attendent leur tour. Et ils n'ont pas changé le moins du monde." (Coran verset 33:23)

Une fois, pendant son discours sur la chaire de la Grande Mosquée de Koufa, quand on a demandé à l'Imam Ali (Alayhi Salam) d'expliquer le sus-dit verset, il a répondu : "Ce verset a été révélé en mon honneur et en celui de mon oncle Hamza et mon cousin Ubaydah ibn Al-Hareth ibn Abd Al-Muttalib."

Il a continué en disant comment les deux avaient accompli leur engagement envers Allah en atteignant le martyre - Ubaydah dans la Bataille de Badr et Hamza dans la Bataille d'Ohod.

"Quant à moi, a ajouté le Commandant de la Foi, j'attends une mort plus douloureuse, quand ceci (indiquant sa barbe) en sera trempée du sang de cela (indiquant sa tête) … et je n'ai jamais changé le moindre."

Il a dit que sa source d'information sur la façon d'accomplissement de son propre engagement envers Allah, ou autrement dit, le martyre, était son cousin et beau-père, le Prophète Mohamed (SAW), dans les genoux duquel il avait été élevé depuis son enfance. Nous commémorons ces jours-ci l'anniversaire de l'événement tragique qui a mis fin à la seule instance dans l'histoire du modèle de l'administration de la justice. L'imam Ali (as), sincère dans son engagement envers Allah, atteint le martyre immortel le 21e jour du mois de jeûne de l’an 40 H exactement de la même manière qu'un Prophète Mohamed (SAW) pleurant avait prophétisé des décennies plus tôt au début d'un Ramadhan de jeûne : "O Ali, je pleure sur ce qui vous arrivera ce mois. Visualisant être en votre place quand vous prierez votre Seigneur, et la personne la plus mauvaise de tous les temps, comme celle qui a coupé les pattes du chameau de Thamoud (qui était la preuve de la mission divine du Prophète Salih) vous frappera sur votre tête et votre barbe sera teinte dans le sang."

Si fatal était le coup de l'épée empoisonnée de ce «ashq Al-ashqiya» (le plus mauvais des mauvais), Abdur-Rahman ibn Al-Muljam, le 19ème jour de Ramadhan que la Nation Islamique (la Ummah) n'a toujours pas récupéré jusqu'à ce jour de son effet désastreux, malgré le passage d’un millénaire et de presque quatre siècles.

Les Musulmans sont toujours dans un état de confusion à cause de leur échec de tenir compte des mots de la personne envers qui le Prophète a dit : "Je suis la Ville de Connaissance et Ali est sa Porte."

Autrement dit, pour correctement comprendre la sunna, la sira et le véritable message islamique du Dernier Messager du Tout-Puissant à l'humanité, nous n'avons aucun autre choix que de l’approcher par le canal approprié, qui soit, c'est-à-dire par l'Imam Ali , eu égard à sa position centrale dans l'Islam dont le Prophète avait aussi dit : «s'il n'y avait aucun Ali , il aurait été impossible d'identifier les vrais croyants après moi. »

L'anniversaire du martyre du Leader des Pieux, sur qui a été frappé le coup fatal qui a accompli son engagement envers Allah, et qui a dit dans une façon calme et composée (au moment de son martyre) : « Fouztou wa Rabb'il-Kaâba » (Le Seigneur de la Kaâba m’a couronné de succès), doit éveiller notre conscience à ces faits.

Il y a des leçons immortelles à être apprises, non juste des discours de l'Imam, mais de toutes ses actions et de la diffusion de ses exploits sur 63 glorieuses années, depuis le jour où il est né dans le plus Saint des Saints - la maison symbolique de Dieu, la Kaâba - et le jour où il a quitté le monde après avoir été frappé du coup fatal sur sa tête dans sa prosternation au Tout-puissant dans la Grande Mosquée de Koufa (aussi une maison de Dieu).

Les joyaux de sagesse légués à l'humanité par l'homme qui transcende l'histoire et les événements historiques sont à l'extérieur de la portée de cette brève parenthèse, que je voudrais finir avec les deux passages suivants de sa Dernière Volonté sur son lit de mort, comme nourriture pour la pensée :
«Je vous conseille de craindre Allah. N'allez pas après ce monde vicieux bien qu'il puisse essayer de vous séduire. Ne le cherchez pas bien qu'il puisse vous chercher et ne vous affligez pas et ne désirez pas ardemment les choses que ce monde vous refuse. Laissez la Récompense éternelle et les Bénédictions d'Allah être les facteurs d'incitation pour tout ce que vous dites et faites. Soyez un ennemi des tyrans et des oppresseurs et un ami et une aide de ceux qui sont opprimés et tyrannisés».

«Développez la sympathie mutuelle, l'amitié et l'amour et aidez-vous les-uns les-autres. Prenez soin de ne pas rejeter autrui et de mal le traiter et non avec bienveillance. Exhortez les gens à faire le bien et à s’abstenir du mal, sinon le vicieux et le méchant seront vos chefs suprêmes et si vous permettez volontairement à de telles personnes d'être vos dirigeants alors Allah n'entendra pas vos prières.» (Nahj Al-Balagha : Lettre 47)

Pledge Fulfilled

"Among the Believers are men who fulfil what they pledge unto Allah; of them some have fulfilled their pledge, and of them are some who still wait; and they have not changed in the least." (Holy Qur'an 33:23)
Once, during his discourse from the pulpit of the Grand Mosque of Kufa, when Imam Ali (AS) was asked to explain the above ayah, he replied: "This ayah was revealed in my honour, and that of my uncle Hamzah, and my cousin Ubaydah ibn al-Hareth ibn Abd al-Muttalib."
He went on to say how the two had fulfilled their pledge with Allah by attaining martyrdom -- Ubaydah in the Battle of Badr and Hamzah in the Battle of Ohod.
"As for myself," added the Commander of the Faithful, "I am awaiting a most painful death, when this (pointing to his beard) shall be drenched from the blood of this (pointing to his head)… and have never changed the least."
He said his source of information on the manner of fulfilment of his own pledge to Allah, or in other words, martyrdom, was his cousin and father-in-law, Prophet Muhammad (SAWA), in whose lap he had been raised ever since a child. We are commemorating these days the anniversary of the tragic event that ended the only instance in history of the model administration of justice. Imam Ali (AS), true to his pledge to Allah, attained immortal martyrdom on the 21st of the month of fasting in 40 AH in the very manner that a weeping Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) had prophesied decades earlier at the onset of a fasting Ramadhan : “O Ali, I weep for that which will befall you in this month. Visualising to be in your place when you will be praying to your Lord, and the most wicked person of all times, like the one who chopped off the feet of the camel of Thamoud (that was proof of Prophet Salih's divine mission) will strike you on your head and your beard will be dyed in blood.”
So fatal was the blow from the poisoned sword of that ashq al-ashqiya (most wicked of the wicked), Abdur-Rahman ibn al-Muljam, on the 19th of Ramadhan that the Islamic ummah has still not recovered till this day from its disastrous effect, despite the passing of over a millennium and almost four centuries.
The Muslims are still in a state of bewilderment because of their failure to heed the words of the person regarding whom the Prophet had said: "I am the City of Knowledge and Ali is its Gateway."
In other words, in order to properly understand the sunnah, seerah and the genuine Islamic message of the Almighty's Last Messenger to mankind, we have no other choice but to approach him through the proper channel, that is, through Imam Ali (AS), regarding whose pivotal position in Islam, the Prophet had also said: "If there was no Ali (AS), it would have been impossible to identify true believers after me."
The martyrdom anniversary of the Leader of the Pious, who on being struck the fatal blow that fulfilled his pledge to Allah, said in a calm and composed manner (while his martyrdom) : « Fouztou wa Rabb'il-Ka'ba » (By the Lord of the Ka'ba I am successful), ought to awaken our conscience to these facts.
There are immortal lessons to be learnt, not just from the Imam's discourses, but from all his actions and deeds spread over 63 glorious years, since the day he was born in the holiest of holies – God's symbolic house, the Ka'ba – and departed from the world after being struck the fatal blow on his head while in prostration to the Almighty in the Grand Mosque of Kufa (also a house of God).
The bezels of wisdom bequeathed to humanity by the man who transcends history and historical developments are outside the scope of this brief column, which I would like to end with the following two passages from his Last Will on his deathbed, as food for thought:
“I advise you to fear Allah. Do not go after this vicious world though it may try to entice you. Do not seek it though it may seek you and do not grieve over and pine for things which this world refuses you. Let the eternal Reward and Blessings of Allah be the prompting factors for all that you say and do. Be an enemy of tyrants and oppressors and be a friend and helper of those who are oppressed and tyrannized.
“Develop mutual liking, friendship and love, and help one another. Take care that you do not spurn and treat one another badly and unsympathetically. Exhort people to do good and abstain them from evil, otherwise the vicious and the wicked will be your overlords and if you willingly allow such persons to be your rulers then your prayers will not be heard by Allah." (Letter 47 – Nahj al-Balagha)
