Dans son numéro du 19 avril, le magazine économique britannique The Economist a publié un article sur la présidentielle algérienne intitulé "The old man won’t go away" (Le vieux ne veut pas s'en aller) dans lequel il a notamment cité les propos d'un internaute algérien qui a écrit :"La technologie en Algérie est si avancée que même notre président est virtuel!" en référence au fait que malgré que le vieux mort-vivant Bouteflika est invisible et végète à El-Mouradia depuis 2 ans, il s'est représenté pour un 4e mandat qu'il a gagné sans jamais avoir parlé ou rencontré le moindre électeur algérien pendant la campagne électorale!
L'article en question conclut par un paragraphe qui décrit tristement la réalité algérienne: "Algeria is not a happy country. Periodic riots, ethnic clashes between Arabs and Berbers and the lingering danger of jihadist terrorism attest to festering social ills. For the time being, however, memories of still worse times make Algerians too timid, by and large, to mount a greater challenge to the powers-that-be."
L'article en question conclut par un paragraphe qui décrit tristement la réalité algérienne: "Algeria is not a happy country.
