A Phoenix Towards The Sky
Before my eyes could find that all my life i was so blind
I had to realize in darkness, that the sun would rise again
This life of countless hardships, one hardship at a time
I needed this, regardless, experiencing rain is fine
We walk a long walk through life never noticing much
Until some sudden tremor shakes us up and wakes us up
To the realness of feeling the power left in our own touch
We must endure the crawl before our feet can take us up
I have a strength inside that hasn’t yet been used
I must learn to teach myself the proper way to fight
The kind of battle I rise up from after each and every bruise
I need this, regardless, of the time of the night
I push forward the key to this is only to keep going
I can’t look beyond my means or I’ll defeat my true ambitions
The will for such a task is like a garden that keeps growing
But it needs caring, it needs patience.. and it needs a mission
And I know now where my course takes me
There’s a way if there’s a will and I’ll find one or make one
I must learn how far to bend but push before life breaks me
And realize the kind of dreams that I don’t wish to wake from
I know, mama and papa, you’re both feeling so devastated
But I need you both to be my guiding light into the darkness
When there’s a chance we’ll make it will we be ready to take it?
I know it’s dark tonight but that’s cause the sky is starless
I know my destination and I know I’m beautiful
And many nights I thought it wouldn’t be just like before
But I realized I’d need far more skills than usual
I was just purring in my youth but now they’ll hear me roar
Before my hands could feel the truth in what I was seeing
I had to swim in darkness, you had to see me cry
I was a mess I must confess I had trouble believing
That I would rise from ashes like a phoenix towards the sky
I found the strength inside to keep all hopes alive
Someday somehow I’ll get to run a foot before the other
And I will smile again - because I’ll have survived
With all this super human strength that I uncovered
I know each step is hard, and the climb is very painful
But I had to endure darkness, and now I know the way
So few have walked this road, so few have been as graceful
So few have known Roumaissa, but you’ll know me someday
