L’Algérie construit le plus long tunnel ferroviaire d’Afrique du Nord

Composé de deux tubes de 7,3 km chacun, le tunnel d’El Qantas permettra de réduire de près de moitié la durée du trajet en train entre Alger et Oran.

Aujourd’hui, il faut compter en moyenne 4 h 30 pour relier la capitale à la plus grande ville de l’ouest algérien. Mais la durée de ce trajet sera bientôt divisée par deux. Alger ne sera effectivement plus qu’à 2 h 30 d’Oran par train, après l’entrée en service du tunnel d’El Qantas, selon les prévisions du ministère algérien des Travaux publics et des Transports.

« On va pouvoir réduire la durée du trajet car les trains, qu’ils transportent des personnes ou des marchandises, pourront passer à une vitesse moyenne de 220 km/h, après la livraison du tunnel d’El Qantas, contre 160 km/h actuellement », précise-t-on au ministère.

Composé de deux tubes mesurant 7,3 km de long, ce tunnel sera le plus long d’Afrique du Nord et le plus long de ce type sur le continent.

Entrepris il y a six ans, les travaux de ce tunnel sont en cours de réalisation à environ 100 km à l’ouest de la capitale, près d’el Hoceinia (wilaya d’Ain Defla). À la manette, l’entreprise chinoise China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, associée à l’Agence nationale d’études et de suivi de la réalisation des investissements ferroviaires (ANESRIF).

La société chinoise vient de venir à bout des travaux de percement de deux tubes d’une hauteur et d’une largeur de sept mètres, comptant chacun une seule voie. Une étape célébrée le 30 octobre, au cours d’une cérémonie en présence du ministre de tutelle, Abdelghani Zaalane.

Mais pour emprunter ce tunnel, qui constitue un tronçon de la ligne ferroviaire passant entre El Effroune (wilaya de Blida) et Khemis Miliana (wilaya d’Ain Defla), les voyageurs vont devoir s’armer de patience. D’après le ministère des Travaux publics et des Transports, le projet El Qantas, qui figure dans le programme quinquennal 2014-2019 du président Bouteflika, n’aboutira « pas avant le second semestre 2018 ».

D’une longueur totale de 14,68 km, El Qantas deviendra le plus long tunnel d’Afrique du Nord. L’infrastructure sera également le second plus long tunnel ferroviaire du continent, derrière le tunnel d’Hex River, qui s’étire sur 16,8 km entre Le Cap et Johannesburg, en Afrique du Sud.

(ECNS) -- On Monday the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited finished cutting through the Gantas railway tunnel in Algeria, a major project in the country's railway network, after six years of construction work.

The tunnel is located 100 kilometers west of Algiers, capital of Algeria, and composed of two separate tubes at 7,346 meters long in one lane and 7,335 meters long in the other, each for just one track. A total length of 14.68 kilometers, it is the longest tunnel in North Africa.

Geological challenges posed by the expansive rocky terrain had to be overcome during the construction of the railway tunnel, according to the CRCC.

In a ceremony to mark the breakthrough, Algerian officials said the new railway would greatly improve transportation for people and goods once completed, cutting the travel time between Algiers and Oran from four hours to two hours.

Wang Wenzhong, the vice president of the CRCC, said the tunnel would be a pivotal point for railways in northern Algeria and boost economic growth along the line.

The CRCC said that construction of the project created more than 4,100 jobs for local people.

Ce n'est pas impossible si la vitesse moyenne affichée dans l'article (220 km/h) est effectivement respectée. Cela correspond au minimum d'une LGV.

News Analysis: Sino-Algerian relations witness steady progress in 59 years of diplomatic ties

ALGIERS, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- The relations between China and Algeria have achieved substantial progress since the establishment of the diplomatic ties 59 years ago, and are expected to be further strengthened in the future.
The Sino-Algerian cooperation has already exceeded Algeria's collaboration with the European Union, Kamal Kheffache, an Algerian economic analyst, told Xinhua.
The core of China's competitiveness is its financial resources and the technological capabilities of Chinese companies that allow China to win mega projects and to deliver them on time based on international standards, Kheffache said.
According to Algerian Customs data, China is the largest exporter to Algeria during the first 10 months of 2017, with exports reaching 7.29 billion U.S. dollars, which accounts for 19.11 percent of the total imports by Algeria.
China is also a major investor in Algeria. Chinese companies have been extensively involved in the development of Algerian infrastructure, including the construction of the East-West Highway, the extension of the railway network and the duplication of tracks.
A Chinese consortium has recently been commissioned to build a mega port in the north of Algeria, in a deal worth 3.3 billion dollars.
The port is located in Cherchell in the El Hamdania coastal area in the province of Tipaza, 80 km west of Algiers. It was assigned to a joint venture company set up by Algeria's state-run Port Services Group and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC).
Algerian Trade Minister Mohamed Benmeradi said the new port of Cherchell will help transport goods to Africa through the connection with the Trans-Saharan road.[/B]
Telecommunications, broadcasting and the Internet are also areas for bilateral cooperation between Algeria and China.
On Dec. 10, the Algerian satellite Alcomsat-1 was successfully launched by the Chinese Long March 3B launcher from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center station.
The launch is hailed as the culmination of serious long-term cooperation between the two countries in the field of space technology.
On the issue of trade inbalance, Kheffache suggested encouraging Chinese companies to invest in Algeria by creating joint ventures in the manufacturing sector to produce goods for exporting to China.
The thousands of Chinese who are living in Algeria and acquainted to the Algerian culture could also help promote and market Algerian products in China, he added.
Chinese car manufacturers, like Chery, Geely, Dongfeng and JAC, are already awaiting permission to install assembly plants in Algeria.

C'est quoi le problème, prenpalatete ?

Il s'agit d'un projet payé par l'Algérie, construit en Algérie, sous la supervision d'un organisme algérien, mais confié à une compagnie chinoise qui semble avoir les compétences nécessaires, comme un tas d'autres projets confiés à des entreprises truques, françaises, canadiennes ou autres.

Où est le problème ? J'avoue que je n'arrive pas à saisir...
