Algerian state energy company Sonatrach signed a deal with Portugal’s Galp on Tuesday to extend by 10 years a contract to supply natural gas to Portugal, Sonatrach said.
Under the deal, Algeria will ship 2.5 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year to Portugal, it said in a statement. Supplies are now delivered under a 1994 contract.
“For Sonatrach, these agreements strengthen is position as a major supplier to the Iberian Peninsula,” the statement said.
