German car manufacturer Volkswagen has made the long-awaited decision to open a new factory in Turkey’s western province of Manisa.

Turkey beat out the other lead contender, Hungary, despite higher labour costs, because Volkswagen wished to tap Turkey’s large domestic market for cars.

The car manufacturer believes it can sell up to 40,000 of its Passat model in Turkey annually, and could also get lucrative orders from government organisations for its Passat-model limousines, it said.

The plant will reportedly also produce vehicles for Volkswagen subsidiaries Skoda and Seat. Investment costs are estimated at between 1.3 billion euros ($1.5 billion) and 2 billion euros, FAZ said.

Volkswagen partner SOVAC, cut the red tape together. With the launch of the new assembly plant, the tension felt by the many participants gave way to pride. In a record time of just 200 days, the team comprising the brands Seat, Škoda, and Volkswagen had built a modern assembly plant in the Algerian steppe region at Relizane, 250 kilometers southwest of the capital Algiers.

Grand opening ceremony

The grand opening ceremony took place in the presence of the Algerian Minister of Trade, representatives of the German, Spanish, and Czech embassies, as well as numerous invited guests from politics and business in Algeria.

The company has ambitious plans in Africa and especially in Algeria. "Our commitment here in Relizane is part of our comprehensive 2025 strategy. The African continent offers great growth opportunities for the Group," said Diess in his opening speech. "And we are not as strong in Africa as in other parts of the world. We want to change that."

1- ce n'est pas une vraie usine, c'est un entrepot ou on monte des roues et quelque accesoires.
2- ce n'est pas un hangar de VW mais un hangar de l'importateur comme on en trouve dans plusieurs pays africains.

1- ce n'est pas une vraie usine, c'est un entrepot ou on monte des roues et quelque accesoires.
2- ce n'est pas un hangar de VW mais un hangar de l'importateur comme on en trouve dans plusieurs pays africains.

ça c'est un hangar d'assemblage de kits SKD. rappelle toi de Rebrab qui avait dit que les véhicules étaient montés puis démontés puis envoyés en kits en algérie avant d'étre remontés là bas

Selon lui ces véhicules ont été montés, ils vont êtres démontés puis envoyés en Algérie pour êtres remontés au sein de l’usine de Global Motors à Batna.
