Nov 12th 2019: Arkad-ABB SpA has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth US$50 million from MEDGAZ S.A., a company, composed by SONATRACH, CEPSA. The project involves the expansion of the Beni Saf compression station to increase by 25% the export capacity of gas from Algeria to Europe.
MEDGAZ operates the deepwater gas pipeline from Algeria to Europe via Spain, supplying natural gas directly from Beni Saf on the Algerian coast, to Almeria in Andalusia (Spain). The 24 in. pipeline ensures the most direct and cost-effective route to supply natural gas to Southern Europe.
Arkad-ABB is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up assistance of the Beni Saf Compressor Station Phase 1 Expansion Project, which will increase gas compression capacity through the addition of the fourth turbo-compressor train and ancillaries. Project facilities will be designed to strictly meet the local Algerian environmental regulations with respect to related noise, effluents and emissions.
