Morocco advances in Davis Cup, Algeria defeats Norway in play-offs

Morocco moved ahead to the third round of the 2007 Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group II competition, defeating Slovenia 3-2 in Portoroz, Slovenia, ITF reported on its website. In the last three matches on Saturday (July 21st) and Sunday, Reda El Amrani and Younes El Aynaoui lost to Luka Gregorc and Grega Zemlja in doubles, while El Aynaoui and Rabie Chaki beat Zemlja and Gregorc, respectively, in singles. In September, the Moroccan team will play Poland, which ousted Greece.
In the relegation play-offs, Algeria gained the upper hand over Norway, beating the local team 4-1 in Svingvoll. In the last two rubbers on Sunday, Lamine Ouahab defeated Stian Boretti, and Slimane Saoudi overcame Frederik Sletting-Johnsen. Algeria will remain in Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group II for 2007.
