Alstom says govt MoU for Morocco train deal could be signed next week

PARIS (Thomson Financial) - An Alstom spokeswoman said there is a 'good chance' that a memorandum of understanding will be signed next week between France and Morocco to develop a high-speed link including orders for Alstom.
The spokeswoman said talks are continuing between the two countries.
Alstom was reacting to an earlier report from Agence France-Presse, which cited a source close to the matter as saying an agreement will be signed next week on the high-speed train project during a visit to Morocco by French president Nicolas Sarkozy.
French weekly l'Express reported on its website that the project is worth a total of 3 bln eur, including 1.8 bln for the first phase.
The project involves the development of a high-speed line between Tangiers and Marrakech, according to l'Express.
