  • Le secteur des assurances en Algérie selon OBG

Dans son rapport "L'Algérie émergente 2007", Oxford Business Group a analysé le secteur des assurances en Algérie :

Although the Algerian insurance industry grew by 16% during the 2005 fiscal year, the biggest challenge it is currently facing is changing mindsets to accommodate the notion of life insurance. The insurance sector as a whole has been enlivened by the passage of a new insurance law designed to energise it. One of the most interesting aspects of the law for investors is that it allows foreign players to operate directly in the Algerian market by creating franchises. Currently the sector as a whole is dominated by four state-owned players: Société Nationale d'Assurance (SAA), Compagnie Algérienne d' Assurance et de Réassurance CAAR, Compagnie Algérienne d'Assurance Transport and Compagnie d'Assurances des Hydrocarbures, which control, between them, 87.7% of the market. There are six privately owned companies while Compagnie Centrale de Réassurance (CCR) dominates the reinsurance segment. To the future, the government's $60bn economic investment programme over the next five years offers the industry opportunity in insuring infrastructure and construction sites, as well as safeguarding the earnings and savings generated by the development. Indeed, the insurance market's total turnover is expected to hit the $1bn mark and beyond by 2010.
