Cimpor Morocco unit to build 100 mln eur plant in 2008, acquires aggregates unit
LISBON (Thomson Financial) - Cimpor Cimentos de Portugal SGPS said its Morocco unit plans to build a 100 mln eur cement plant and that the group has acquired an aggregates unit in Morocco with an annual production capacity of one million tonnes.
In a filing with stock market regulator CMVM, Cimpor said that the additional 750,000 tonnes annual production capacity to be provided by the new plant, for which work will start in the first half of 2008, will respond to the 'growth potential and increasing utilisation of the group's assets in Morocco'.
The acquisition of the aggregates unit is designed to address the growing supply needs of Cimpor's existing four facilities as well as those of the three more to be installed in 2008, the company added.
