Commémoration du débarquement de Christopher Columbus a New York le 12 Octobre 1942 maintenant le deuxième Lundi du mois d’Octobre soit 9/10/06. Les immigrants italiens installés en large nombre étaient les premiers a célébrer la fête annuellement comme faisant parti de leur héritage, car il croyaient que Columbus était Italien.

blague à part on attribue pour l'instant la découverte de l'Amérique à un certain Leif Erikson, à la fin du Xe siècle. Lorsque cette thèse a fait parlé d'elle la première fois, Italo-Américains ont vu rouge :mrgreen:
