Raul Castro Meets Visiting Sahrawi President
HAVANA, Cuba, July 5 (acn) Cuban President Raul Castro met on Saturday with his counterpart of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, who is on a working visit to Cuba.

During the meeting, the two leaders stressed the good state of bilateral cooperation and friendly relations, and exchanged experiences about the many challenges that both peoples face today; they also exchanged views on the current international situation, the impact of the world economic crisis on developing nations and existing dangerous conflicts around the planet.
Mohamed Abdelaziz, also General Secretary of the Polisario Front, reiterated his people’s support of Cuba in the struggle against Washington’s economic blockade and for the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters who remain unjustly imprisoned in the United States. He also thanked Raul for Cuba’s permanent solidarity with his people.
For his part, Raul Castro thanked the visitor on behalf of the Cuban people for the solidarity of a nation that struggles in very difficult conditions for their right to self-determination and ratified Cuba’s decision to continue supporting the cause of the Sahrawi people.
Also present in the meeting were Cuban First VP Jose Ramon Machado Ventura; Cuban FM Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and his Sahrawi counterpart, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek as well as the Sahrawi ambassador in Havana, Melainine Etkana.
